This picture shows the engine fuel pump mounting plate (Summit Racing p/n MRG-1514) installed on the engine fuel pump mount with the 2 bottom small bolts. Note: The top temporay bolt on the forward side of the engine was used to hold the fuel pump rod from sliding down. |
|
This picture shows the engine fuel pump rod (Summit Racing p/n ARP-134-8701) installed in the boss. The original top bolt (9/16" wrench size) on the forward side of the engine was removed and a temporary longer bolt was used to hold the fuel pump rod from sliding out of boss during the fuel pump installation. After the fuel pump installation, the longer bolt was removed and the original bolt reinstalled on the forward side of the engine. Note: The alternate method is using grease to hold the fuel pump rod up in the boss. |

This picture shows the old inoperative alternator. The alternator was a 1 wire hookup with the terminal 1 connected to the alternator (GEN) warning light. There was no wire connected to terminal 2 (alternator sensing wire) of the alternator. The battery charging wire was a single 12 gauge wire. There was no alternator ground to chassis ground. Click here to see the rebuilt of the Delco-Remy 10SI Alternator with the American Energy Systems Repair Kit 1A (3 Wire). |
This picture shows the newly installed Powermaster 70 amp chrome alternator with the 3 wire hookup. Installed new Powermaster 6 gauge battery charging wire (p/n 1-48) from the alternator "BAT" stud to the starter solenoid stud. Fabricated and connected a 14 gauge wire to the terminal 2 (alternator sensing wire) of the alternator electrical connector (NAPA p/n VRC148) to the starter solenoid stud. Fabricated and connected 2 each of 12 gauge ground wires to the alternator housing ground (threaded hole) and the battery negative post chassis ground. Connected the alternator (GEN) warning light wire to the terminal 1 (alternator excite wire) of the alternator electrical connector. |

This was a 55 year old original radiator. |
This picture shows a new Griffin aluminum radiator installed in the six cylinder position. The two transmission cooling lines had to be cut, shorten, and connected with the transmission cooler hoses to accommodate for the line length and the driver side fitting was about 3 inches closer to the centerline of the radiator. |

This picture shows before the new Hotchkis front anti-sway bar installation. |
This picture shows the newly installed Hotchkis 1-3/8" front anti-sway bar. Road tested the Bel Air and found it has decreased chassis rolling and swaying on turns and on uneven surface of the freeway. |
|
This picture shows using a "C" clamp holding the sway bar link and bracket in the correct position and mark the drilling holes on the "A" arm (use masking tape for tracing the holes). With the "C" clamp removed, drill 2 pilot holes on the lower "A" arm and then drill both pilot holes to bolt size. |
|
This picture shows using a floor jack holding the sway bar up before drilling the 2 pilot holes (use masking tape for tracing the holes) on the front frame rail and then drill the pilot holes to bolt size. Note: The Bel Air is on ground level ride height (no movement) and all 4 tires are within the correct air pressure before installing the front sway bar. |

This new Hotchkis 1-3/8" front anti-sway bar kit was purchased from Danchuk. |
